Colorful celebrations

This time I'm back with another multicolor card, for the ICR blog hop - Celebration of Colors :)

It was so simple to make, just used different colors of 5mm quilling strips. The strips are stuck to a base cs, and attached to a baby pink cs using foam tape. I stamped the sentiment on to a patterned paper, using distress inks. Punched out 2 flowers from glitter handmade paper, added pearls to them and stuck. Added a few sequins for some more interest.

Altered box

This ends the series of posts for today :)

Here is an altered box that I made for the ICR challenge.

So this was a perfume box that I was using to hold my quilled earrings. And now came the perfect time to upcycle it to a beautiful box.

I started with making the flowers. One of the tutorials from internet taught me to make flowers out of egg cartons, so that was it! Colored the flowers red and added a golden yellow thermocol ball for the center. Easy to make and beautiful flowers ready!

I wrapped the box with pink and teal patterned paper and added a doily to the center. I've stamped and fussy cut the leaf images. Attached the flowers and leaves, and a few pearl embellishments along with a couple of 3d stickers. I then added a sentiment tag to remind me everyday is to be enjoyed :)

Finally, finished by adding a pink satin ribbon to the side.

First birthday - Box card

Ready for the 3rd card? This one is one of my favorites and a special card! My daughter's birthday is around the corner and first birthdays are always special :) So here is the box card I made for her :)

To start with, I cut the cs to the required measurements to make the box card. I then added patterned papers to the flaps that would be displayed on the front. I stuck another cs to the back to make it stand straight.

Now, for the number 1, I started with a normal print out of the number, to use as a stencil. I carefully cut the number, and attached the positive to a circle cut from the cs. I then used scrap papers to mask the image, sponged using distress inks in rainbow colors. Here is a collage of the steps during masking and coloring.

Once done, I removed the number to get a defined "1" in white space. I wanted to fill it in with 3d snow glitter, and so used the negative stencil. So that's negative masking as well :)

I gave a black outline to the number, distressed the edges of the circle and attached to another white cs with pink and black washitape background to get the outlined effect. Added a rainbow colored star 3d sticker, a micky and a heart to make it more colorful :)

I then went ahead with stamping and coloring lots of balloons using distress inks. They were fussy cut, attached to acetate/cs and added on to the box card.  I punched out stars from color papers, added glitter and a rhinestone, and added them too to the card.

I've stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment onto white cs, cut in a circle, outlined with blue 3d glitter. Attached this onto a newspaper roll and covered with a quilling strip. Also, added another washitape that features 2 cute little ducks to popup.

Then I wanted to make a banner with my daughter's name, so I fussy cut little triangles and added cute hearts with the letters from her name. Here is a close up!

I added more 3d stickers to make it attractive for my daughter :) Also, heat embossed a few candles and cupcake in gold, colored them and added :)

I used a floral stamp and repeated it on the outer side to form a background pattern. Finally, used a ribbon to cover the card :)

There goes a matching envelope as well :)

Masking + Colorful birthday card and tag

Time for the second card now.

Whenever I make a card, I look at the flower stamp, thinking where to use it, but somehow it gets missed out. This time, I wanted to create a simple card with just the flower stamp. Want to have a look?

So I took a scrap piece of wedding invite, cut out a circle, adhered to white cs using some washitape. I started with stamping the flower using distress inks, masking the circle.

I went over the card with different colors and overlapped stamping to make it more colorful. I had to move the washitapes in between to cover the area underneath it and to give a defined edge to the circle.

Once I was satisfied with the stamping, I removed the circle and there was my perfect white space circle amidst the colorful flowers!

I stamped the sentiment and a few stars onto the space, trimmed the card and attached it to a blue base using foam tape.

With the remaining stamped flowers, I made a matching tag too :)

Here they are again :)

Happy Holi

Hello All,

Here comes a series of posts on my latest cards.

The first one is a simple card for Holi, which would do justice only by having a lot of colors!

I've used a technique that I learnt during my school days, blow painting :)
Choose your favorite distress inks, mist water and dribble a bit on to the paper. Blow the paint using a straw or the outer cover of a refill pen, to different directions. Go on until you get the desired results, believe me its too simple to do but you get a colorful outcome!

I've trimmed the card to the required size and attached to a red cs, which in turn is attached to the main white base cs using foam tape.

I cut out a circle using rotary cutter and stamped multi color stars onto it. Next I stamped the sentiment and tag outline on a white cs, added it to red cs.

I've run a silver ribbon around and attached the sentiment to the main card using foam tape.
